Life of a Dancer: My 9 year old daughter

1

Hey Guys, Last night I took a couple of fun pictures of Jordyn to share with you all what she does around the house ALL day and night long. Please excuse the poor quality and bad lighting, it was night and I used my lame-o camera phone that doesn't have a flash. She has been dancing since she was 4 years old and competitively dancing since age 7, she lives breathe and eats dance and gymnastics! She taught herself how to do this varatition of an elbow stand by watching youtube videos. Lessons that I learned from my daughter: Never give up on your dreams, you can do anything you put your mind too and if there is no one to teach you how to do something learn to do yourself! Do you your kids teach you life lessons at their young age? Enjoy! … [Read more...]

A Shade Of Vampire: Book Review

0

Hey Guys, Fact about Tiffany: I am a reader, yep it's true I love to curl up with a good book like ALL the time. I've been into reading since I was kid, back then it used to be Goosebumps and Sweet Valley High books :) Now as an adult I enjoy all kinds of genres and books. Now you may have noticed that I've never once posted a book review on my site, why you might ask? Well because most books I read aren't really approperiate for a review on my family friendly site, not that I am reading bad stuff but they are more adult as in topics, language and so on.  Also I never wanted to get too much into reviewing books because it just opens the door for everyone to throw a book your way to review and I'm actually quite picky in what I read, I have to be interested to spend my time reading a book and then reviewing it on my site. So with that said I was recently contacted by an author, Bella Forest to review her debut book, A Shade Of Vampire. Page Count: 150 Release Date: … [Read more...]

All The Reasons Why I am A Crappy Mom #crappymom

untitled

As I was catching up on all of my fave blogs I came across two very interesting and honest posts by Melissa and Tiffany from Home Grown Families. They were both equally thought provoking and entertaining might I add so I thought to myself am I am crappy mom? I sure am! And here are all the reasons I am: I am not my kid's friend, I am their mother My husband and I are both strict disciplinarians (it's okay to feel sorry for our kids, our friends do : / ) When I cook dinner if they don't like it, there is no alternative or other options they go to bed hungry With that being said I don't cook dinner nearly often enough so on days that I don't cook they fend for themselves ie: sandwiches, frozen foods, quesadillas, etc) and I don't feel guilty one bit I swear in front of my kids and sometimes at them. I know it's horrible and I am trying to work on that, my mother cringes every time she hears it, my dad doesn't blink an eye probably because when I was growing up my mom … [Read more...]

Las Vegas, NV: Family Vacation Recap

One of two Queen beds

Hey Guys, Back in June we took a little family vacation of sorts, my daughter is on the competition team at her dance studio so she had to attend and compete in the National Competition that was held in Las Vegas, NV. I of course left my camera at home so all of these pictures were taken with my cell phone, so please excuse the poor quality. We stayed at the Circus Circus hotel on the strip, in the newly remodeled tower and here are a few pics of our room. Nice eh? I thought so, this hotel is perfect for families because they have sooo much for the kiddos to do. They have an indoor amusement theme park called Adventure Dome. I was lucky enough to score a great deal when I booked our room for a coupon booklet filled with awesome deals. So we took the kids to Adventure Dome and they rode this ride Here's another view Of course you can't this picture is small and they look like ants. They are in the second row from … [Read more...]

Anti-Bully Book Series

untitled

Hello! I think I can safely speak for most if not all parents out there when I say that bullying may have at least crossed your mind once or twice. I know for me I have worried about it with my kids in the past. I try to raise my kids to be strong and to speak their mind all while respecting others but that doesn't mean that a bully won't try to make my kids a victim. Bullying has been major focus in the news lately and has become a national epidemic across the country.  Captain McFinn and Friends is a new book series for elementary children with the theme, “Be A Buddy Not A Bully,” which aims to eliminate the problem of bullying and encourage kindness and friendship.    This engaging 3 book series also includes an activity book with stickers, sing-a-long audio CD, mobile apps, eBooks and a wide variety of educational materials perfect for every educator’s budget.     New to hit shelves beginning in June - Captain McFinn and Friends Rock!: The day Captain … [Read more...]

Future Fortified: 1,000 Days To Shape A Child’s Future

untitled

One of my main goals as being a mother and raising my two children is to make sure they are completely aware of life outside of their bubble. By that I mean I teach my children to look outside of themselves and see how others live, how they are treated and what they have or do not have. They are constantly reminded of privileges and the difference between wants and needs. I want my children, like all moms want for their children to grow up and be happy healthy responsible adults. Giving back, donating, helping our community are things that are taught to them by me and my husband. I've always had this nature to want to help people and I hate to see people suffer so whatever I can do within my means to help someone just warms my spirit and I am passing that onto my children. When I read about Future Foritied and their goal to help millions of women and children around the world  gain access to the essential nutrients they need to lead healthy and enriched lives I was immediately … [Read more...]
