Braided Twisted Updo on Natural Hair

Hey Guys! Today's style is another updo style, a braided twisted updo on natural hair. This style is perfect for all ages! To start this style we stretched Jordyn's hair the previous night by using the banded method. The following products were used: Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie as well as Creme of Nature's Argan Oil Perfect Edges for Jordyn's edges.   First make a middle part (horizontally) from ear to ear. Tie up the top section and start work on the bottom half of the head first. Make a zig zag part going down the middle of the head. Next start at the bottom of the head, near the nape of the neck and make two cornrows going up toward the top middle section of the head.   Now it's time to start work on the front section of hair. First take a small section of hair in the front of the head and bobby pin that away for now. Next take the two cornrow braids you made and criss cross them over each other. Then add them to the … [Read more...]

Flat Twisted Side Curls on Natural Hair

Hey Guys, I'm back with a new hair style I came up with for Jordyn. I started by washing her hair with Herbal Essence Naked Volume Shampoo then I conditioned with Aussie Moist conditioner. Next I sectioned her hair in 4 sections and I added a quarter sized amount of Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream  and grapeseed oil to each section. I detangled with my wide tooth comb and then used my blow dry to dry her hair completely. Next I added a tiny bit of gel for hold and began flat twisting all of her hair to one side of her head. I secured each flat twist with rubber bands. For the loose hair left out I used my curling wand to add curls. That night I used flexi rods to preserve the curls for the next day and she slept with her satin scarf on. This style will last us an entire week by tying it up at night and using the flexi rods to keep the curls in. There are many variations on this style, you can do it on wet hair, dry hair, … [Read more...]

Roller Set on Natural 4a Hair

Hey Guys! I wanted to try something new on Jordyn's hair so I made a quick run to my local indoor swap-meet and purchased some large magnetic rollers so I could try out a roller set on her :) I first started by washing and conditioning her hair using Miss Jessie's Super Slip Sudsy Shampoo   Next I used Aussie Moist Conditioner   For my styling aides I used Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream   and good old fashion hair grease to seal the ends and lock in the moisture.   She sat under the hooded dryer for about an hour and 15 min and then once her hair was dry I took the rollers out and pin curled the curls for bed.   I put her satin bonnet on for bedtime and the next morning I took the pin curls down, fluffed her hair out and separated the curls. I also added two flat twists on each side of her head and in the middle I tried to do an inward french braid, it doesn't look so great up close … [Read more...]

Simple Elegant Updo on Natural Hair

Hey Guys, Today's hair tutorial is a simple easy elegant updo on natural hair. When I started to do my hair I didn't have this style in mind, I just kinda winged it and came up with this. Let's get started! Notes: My hair is currently BSL (bra strap length) however this style can be achieved on shorter hair as long has you have the length to roll and tuck a bun. My hair was in an old twist out but can be in any textured state. Items Needed: two ponytail holders bobby pin/s I began with grabbing sections (I didn't part) hair on each side of my head by my ears and made two flat twists on either side of my head. I gathered them both in the middle of the back of my head and secured with a small ponytail holder.   I took the remaining hair that was left down in the back and secured it into a loose ponytail adding the remaining hair that was secured already from my flat twists.   Next I took the loose hair in my ponytail I just made and … [Read more...]

Flat Twist Out on 4a Natural Hair

Hey Guys! I decided to try a twist out on Jordyn's hair, in the past when I've tried this style I haven't been so successful woomp woomp :(   For this style I started with freshly washed and conditioned hair, I moisturized with Blended Beauty's Silk Shake and then sealed with a little Darcy's Botantical Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Conditioning Oil I made a total of 7-8 twists and let then air dry overnight     Jordyn has major shrinkage, while stretched or straightened her hair is around arm pit length but in it's natural unstretched state it's way shorter :) We pinned up the sides and left out a little side bang :) Enjoy! … [Read more...]

Flat Twist Design On Natural Hair

Hey Guys! Today's post is a quick and simple flat twist design on natural hair that I did on Jordyn. So let's get started: Part the hair hortizonally from ear to ear Take the first top section and do your flat twists, I did about 8-9 I didn't use any rubber bands to hold the twists, I just twisted all the way down. Once I finished each individual twist I gathered all the flat twist and split them into two section to make one big two strand twist to the left side of her head and rolled and bobby pinned the loose twists into a bun. For the back section of hair Imade two ponytails with two strand twists.     That's it guys! Quick and easy and cute! Enjoy! … [Read more...]

Flat Twist Updo on Natural Hair

Hey Guys! I am so late in sharing this style :( but better than never sharing right?! Right! :) So here is how Jordyn wore her hair for Thanksgiving day. I wanted something sort of fancy but something that didn't take too long to do, I came up with this number. I started by parting her hair horizontally from ear to ear and the back half I had four separate ponytails that connected upwards to the crown of her head. For the top half of the head I did a free style flat twist design and then I did a simple two strand twist for all the loose hair remaining, added a few sponge rollers to curl the ends and that's it!  After a few hours (probably around 3) I took the sponge rollers out and undid the two strand twists for a twist out :)   This style lasted us a week and I used our Blended Beauty products to achieve the look. Enjoy! … [Read more...]
