DIY: Shea Butter Mix for Hair

Hey Guys,

So I ran out of my last batch Shea Butter Mix and I looked on youtube to find a new mix, just to switch things up and try something different. After watching a few videos I just decided to use what I had on hand.

So I used the following:

  • Raw Shea Butter (purchased locally from an African Store near my job)
  • Tropical Tradition Coconut Oil
  • Extra Virign Olive Oil
  • Avocado Oil
  • Vitamin E
  • Castor Oil

Coconut Oil not pictured (I forgot about it)

I used a large mixing bowl and mixed the following together:

  • 5-6 tablespoons of raw shea butter
  • 3-4 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of EVOO, Castor oil, Avocado oil
  • 8 capsules of Vitamin E oil (1/2 teaspoon)

My Vitamin E is in capsules so I just poked a little hole in each capsule until I got enough for 1/2 teaspoon. The vitamin E will act as a preserver for the mix so it won’t go bad so fast.

I used my hand mixer and whipped everything up together until I got a nice and fluffy consistency.

I use this mix as a styler for my hair as well as a sealant to help keep the moisture in my hair.

Do you make your own hair products?

I hope this helps!

Enjoy!
